“Sitting in its own space in the UK festival circuit, Strawberries & Creem stands out from the crowd…”
Strawberries & Creem is Cambridgeshire’s biggest popular music event, and one of the UK’s most exciting young festivals. Set up by six friends in 2014 as a garden party for 800 people, it has grown up fast over the last few years - and we celebrate our 5th Birthday in 2019, when we’ll welcome over 10,000 of you to Haggis Farm, Cambridge to party with us.
2018’s edition set new levels and shook Cambridge to its foundations - featuring T-Pain, Not3s, Kojo Funds, David Rodigan, Heidi, Shy FX and 50+ other artists, including 21 special guests. Previous years' guests include the likes of Nelly, Shaggy, Skepta, Wiley, Kano, AJ Tracey and J Hus - mixing household, ‘throwback’ names with the hottest new talent.
This year, we’re going even bigger to mark our 6th chapter. S&C will return for another (hopefully sunny!) summer Saturday filled with the best in UK urban and dance music on 15th June - with 3 stages of artists spanning hip-hop, UK rap, R&B, garage, house, grime, afrobeats and more. Expect familiar faces, legends in the game and rising stars too…
Our aim as a festival has always been to champion the sounds of the UK’s streets and clubs, by bringing them to a city which has traditionally lacked a scene for our kind of music. We wanted to provide Cambridgeshire with something it was missing, and shift people’s perceptions of our hometown (known mainly for its academic achievements rather than its music) in the process.
With our mission ‘Celebrate Heritage, Champion Future’, S&C offers a truly unique experience - combining old with new, both sonically and scenically, bringing the cream of the crop in contemporary music to one of our country’s most historic cities. We strive to create an atmosphere that blends the cutting-edge with the fun, friendly and familiar - and, more than anything, to put smiles on faces.
“The crowd was the more diverse than any festival I've been to – locals, students, people from london and the surrounding areas, all having a great time…”
Whether it was Skepta’s first ever festival performance of “Shutdown” in 2015, or a noughties throwback and UK exclusive in 2016 with Nelly - S&C contrasts veterans of their scenes (David Rodigan, Wiley, Kano) with exciting up-and-coming artists (Octavian, Not3s & J Hus), and US chart-toppers rarely seen at music festivals (T-Pain, Shaggy) with UK nightclub royalty (Shy FX, DJ Luck & MC Neat).
One thing you can be sure of at S&C is an incredibly diverse and friendly crowd, all with the same intention: to enjoy themselves. You won’t find a happier vibe anywhere else, and this unique feel saw us Highly Commended in the Festicket Awards 2018 for Inclusivity.
Our main stage is a showcase of the leading lights across musical genres we have always loved, the beating heart of S&C. Expect feel good anthems all day across a range of styles - spanning Afrobeats, Dancehall, UK Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Garage, Grime and more.
This is the place where, whatever you’ve come to the festival to see, there will be something that you can vibe to. Be sure to expect the biggest names on the bill performing right here - from the likes of Skepta and J Hus, to Shaggy and So Solid Crew to name a few.
“S&C CONTINUES TO PROVIDE the uk SUMMER WITH A FESTIVAL THAT IS FULL OF QUALITY MUSIC, APPRECIATING THE PRESENt & PAST."
BIG TOP TENT
The Big Top tent has been a staple part of the festival since 2015. We like to refer to it as the Energy Tent - if you’ve been before, you’ll know why. It’s always bursting at the seams, whoever may be bringing the fire on the decks and mic throughout the day. It’s been said that some people don’t leave once they enter - just make sure you bring a towel and plenty of water…
This is an electric environment bustling with party people getting their sweat on. Last year it was headlined by Ghetts, and has welcomed loads of party starters including the likes of Octavian, Shy FX, Mike Skinner, Artful Dodger, P Money and Crazy Cousinz.
A more recent edition to S&C has been the Hangar Stage, pushing all things House/Dance and adding a completely new flavour to the festival. Because everyone likes to cut some shapes to a timeless 4x4 beat once in a while - it’s an eternal call to prayer for partiers.
Last summer we had about 2,000 ravers flicking a wrist to some sensational selectors including Secondcity, Latmun and Max Chapman - not to mention the queen herself, Heidi. Be sure to expect some serious growth here this year, we’re upping the levels…
