GIVE ME SOME SIGNAL!
For over 40 years, David Rodigan has been the top dog in the bass heavy-atmosphere of Britain’s reggae dance-halls. The key to his success has been an unsinkable passion for the music of Jamaica that has generated an unrivalled encyclopaedic knowledge of the island’s every artist, song and rhythm track - this man is a true reggae connoisseur.
A legendary radio DJ too, Rodigan began his broadcasting career in 1978 and has hosted classic reggae shows on Capital, Kiss 100, BBC Radio 2 and BBC 1Xtra. Alongside this, he has a prolific history in soundsystem clashes - having gone up against some of the top systems and selectors across the globe, renowned for his fearsome arsenal of dubplates.
Recent years have seen a relentless Rodigan resurgence - with countless awards and an MBE under the belt, a Red Bull Culture Clash win with Chase & Status and Shy FX, and a critically-acclaimed autobiography, all whilst continuing to champion reggae on the airwaves.
2018 sees Rodigan celebrate his 40th Anniversary in the business - a remarkable achievement, marked by a global tour on which S&C is one of his stops. A friend of the festival since day one, we’re thrilled to welcome back a true legend and UK music icon. Somebody give him some signal!
